Building the strength to face life’s challenges through faith, purpose and practical action.
Life is full of challenges. Some are small, everyday pressures, while others are unexpected setbacks that test our faith, strength and ability to keep going. But resilience isn’t about avoiding difficulties or pretending everything is fine. It’s about developing the capacity to face life’s challenges, overcome setbacks, adapt to change and emerge stronger, with God at the centre of our lives.
Developing Your Christian Resilience is a practical, faith-based course designed to help every Christian understand, strengthen and sustain their personal resilience. Grounded in biblical principles and everyday life experiences, the course introduces a simple but powerful framework called the Five Battery Model of Resilience.
Just as batteries provide the energy needed to keep things working, we each draw upon five interconnected sources of strength that support our ability to cope with life’s demands:
God – Strengthening our relationship with God as the foundation of our resilience.
Perspective and Purpose – Developing a healthy outlook on life, understanding our identity and discovering God’s purpose for us.
Community – Building meaningful relationships and supportive connections with others.
Financial Wellbeing – Developing healthy financial habits that reduce stress and support stability.
Health and Wellbeing – Caring for our physical, mental and emotional health so we have the strength to face life’s challenges.
These five batteries work together, supporting and strengthening one another. When one battery becomes depleted, the others can help sustain us. By understanding how our batteries work, recognising what charges and drains them, and learning practical ways to strengthen each one, we can develop greater resilience in our everyday lives.
Throughout the course, you will be encouraged to reflect on your own experiences, explore biblical wisdom, assess your personal resilience and identify practical changes that can make a lasting difference.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Understand what Christian resilience means and how it differs from simply being strong or self-reliant.
Recognise the five batteries that contribute to your personal resilience.
Identify the habits, behaviours and circumstances that charge or drain each battery.
Discover how biblical principles can guide your response to challenges and setbacks.
Develop practical strategies to strengthen your resilience in everyday life.
Create a personal action plan to build and sustain your resilience over time.
This course is for every Christian, whatever your age, background or stage of your faith journey. Whether you’re facing significant challenges, navigating change or simply wanting to become better equipped for life’s everyday pressures, this course will give you the understanding, encouragement and practical tools to grow.
Christian resilience does not mean that life will be free from difficulties. It means learning to face those difficulties with faith, wisdom, hope and the strength that comes from God.
Your journey towards greater resilience begins with God, is strengthened through every area of your life, and ultimately leads you back to Him.
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” — Philippians 4:13 (KJV)
